Brighton & Hove Albion supporters enjoyed an entertaining 2-2 draw against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in September 1992.Ian Stringfellow’s 11th-minute opener for the Tangerines came after a poor Clive Walker clearance. However, Paul Moulden equalised with a header for Albion soon after the break.
Blackpool’s star striker Trevor Sinclair restored the home side’s lead before Albion pulled level again with Robert Codner’s explosive volley from the edge of the area. Having been relegated to the third tier, now renamed Division Two, Barry Lloyd’s Seagulls side consolidated by finishing in ninth position. Ravaged by injuries and suspension, it was Blackpool that faced a relegation battle, ending the campaign in 18th place.
They were boosted by a shock victory at runaway leaders Stoke. In the return game at the Goldstone in April, Sinclair scored a dazzling goal but his side were pegged back at the death by Kurt Nogan’s quick reactions to a fumbled shot to make it 1-1.
