Every resident to have a £72 per week living allowance. The cost of this is £280 billion per year. Not even the Greeks would endorse this economic mumbo jumbo.

She basically refused to answer anything, as an undecided voted all she did was convince me not to vote for them.

Was the most inept display I have ever seen from a party leader. Her answers on defence, immigration and ISIS were laughable and she didn't seem to know what was party policy.

i read a review of thier policies during the week. its wild fantasies of a party that will never have to govern, and means the reversal of living standards to 18th century. thats fied for some but for 99.9% of us we rather like our comforts and not toiling the ground in subsistance living.

I saw a headline yesterday saying Greens would ask Queen to leave Buckingham Palace. Please tell me this was a hoax, I didn't have time to see full article

£159bn is already spent on benefits.

So just an extra £121billion EVERY year to find then. Phew! Had me worried for a minute.

Their manifesto is appalling and completely unelectable. I'm embarrassed for them, it's that bad. A horrible bag of half-baked Marxist claptrap.

Yes...and move into a council house. Not sure how the Queen feels about that seeing as she owns Sandringham outright.

On defence she said we would get rid of our nuclear deterrent leave NATO and reduce our defence forces back to a home guard she also said it would be legal to be a member of ISIS or any other terrorist group.

Iv'e met a few Green voters, nice people, they often look like they have just got down from a tree looking for cloud cuckoo land. Lovely strange people.

To be fair to the Greens - they know they'll never get even a sniff of power so they can pretty much think up any old shit and put it in their manifesto. It's not so much what they represent but what they don't that people are voting for. They're the only anti-austerity party and the only clear protest vote against a right-wing Labour Party for left-wingers.

I'm voting Green in the next elections because Caroline Lucas is just about the best constituency MP around today and I'm sick of party apparatchiks from both the main parties filling Parliament but if her party were anywhere near power I'd rather lose a kidney than help elect a Marxist government.

They want stagnant, even negative growth. I can't think of anything wrong with that.

My goodness. You can't see anything wrong with a recession? Err...rising unemployment, lower tax receipts, more people trapped in benefits, more house repossessions, greater strain on the welfare state....

Sorry matey but I'm completely gobsmacked with your comment. Have you not thought this through at all?

Yes, I was joking, maybe I should have made it more clear. All those things are precisely what is wrong with that policy. Especially when they want to raise foreign aid, when there won't be any money to give.

Though I've not watched it yet, Natalie often impresses me. I don't think her performance on DP is reflective of the party. Read their policies on their site are reasonable enough. Especially defence.

It is tragic for all of us that the only realistic democratic option on the "left" is the Green Party. I empathise with the Green Party, I hope they do well, but I do agree with the theme of this thread that the way they represent socialism is incomplete or unworkable.

Could it be that it's simply impossible for the proletariat to be represented in democracy anymore? I fear for the future, as economic inequality is spiralling out of control, and if it continues like it is it will ultimately kill the economy.

The tragedy is that the wealth is there, it's just in the wrong places & the only party trying to address this is the Green Party, who appear to be poorly run with no genuine expectations to gain any kind of power as reflected in their unconvincing policies.

if only parties tackled the tax system by simplifying and tightening it by complete reform and more taxes on assets than income. Then we could see a shift in who holds the wealth. Unrealistic due to both politicians and electorate demands. Parliamentary democracy doesn't offer either.
