Albion boss Chris Hughton says latest signing Beram Kayal will provide a "dynamic" option in midfield.
The Seagulls confirmed the capture of the 26-year-old Israeli international from Celtic last night, subject to securing a work permit at a hearing in London on Wednesday.
Kayal, capped 26 times by his country, passed a medical yesterday and has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The fee is believed to be £325,000, rising to £425,000 if Albion are promoted to the Premier League over the duration of Kayal's contract.
The capture of Kayal comes two years after Hughton went to watch him at Parkhead when he was Norwich manager.
Hughton said: "We're delighted to have agreed a deal for someone of Kayal's stature. He's got plenty of experience with Celtic and is an international.
"He is a good age and is a player who is really dynamic in midfield. He can play a few roles, including the holding role, but he also has the energy to break forward.
"He can play in a two or three-man midfield, so that gives us flexibility there. He has been involved in some big games at Celtic and he will give us another really good option."
