Got my first Uber taxi in Stockholm yesterday. Amazing.

All done from within an app. Order the car, see exactly where your car is, who your driver is and no need to worry about payment, it's all taken care of when you assign a card to your account. No more stopping at cashpoints! You can even play your own spotify the car, very clever. But the best bit is that it's actually CHEAPER than regular cabs. You get an email showing you a map of your journey and why it cost what it did.

It's caused quite a stir around the world. Is it right that cabbies are losing work to this new system?

Correct. The app/concept itself is not banned per se...more that the specific Uber process does not comply with German law. There are similar apps over here which do comply.

Used Uber in London not so long ago, brilliant service. Predictably the black cab mafia are up in arms about it.

Does the App automatically ask the driver, "Been busy then, mate?" so you don't have to?

That's not always the case - pricing is automatically determined to help equalise supply and demand.
