Albion could buy and borrow during the January transfer window.
Boss Chris Hughton has hinted at the club making more temporary signings – but also taking the plunge with permanent deals.
He said: “I think you always have to look at the loan market, because it is an important factor, particularly for Championship clubs.
“The majority of transfers Championship clubs do in this window will be loans but that doesn’t necessarily mean that always has to be the case here.
“There will be funds for not only loans but it’s making sure that they are right and using it wisely.”
Albion had six loan signings at one stage prior to Hughton’s appointment. They have recaptured Greg Halford from Nottingham Forest for the rest of the campaign and have Joe Bennett (Aston Villa) and Joao Teixeira (Liverpool) on season-long deals.
Hughton said: “In the January window you want players that you perhaps know or know the division. Of course, there is always going to be the one that doesn’t know the division or from abroad that you are taking the chance on, because you can see the ability that he has.
“But you certainly want a fair amount of the tried and trusted. If I look at Greg and Joe they are two players that know the division.”
