Thanks for posting.

Had forgotten how brilliant that was:

"Our ground's too small,
The cost's too high,
Without Falmer,
Our club will die!"

Possibly the only record I've ever bought and never played.

Possibly also the last time I listened to the hit parade as well.

It's a good ringtone though ha ha. Although I think it is solely responsible for the speed that GOSBTS is sung today.

It was so grim they used to play it over the tannoy after games at Withdean when they wanted to disperse people from the South Stand

The disc still gets an airing in the car from time to time on matchdays.

Meopham, Kent.
I heard John talking about this on Albion Roar a few weeks back, and he said something that really made me stop and think.

He mentioned about the proceeds from the single being donated to the club. Simple, and obvious, of course, we did stuff like that all the time. Save Our Seagulls, the £50 Note fund; we chip in, rally the troops, gather any money we can to help us survive or maybe even sign a player.

Now I know it's great that we have a wealthy backer in Tony Bloom, and it's great that our annual turnover is now North of £20m etc, but there is something I miss about us being poor, and having a cause for us all to rally round for. Without that we are just turning up to watch a football team, then going home.

They really were great days, and in fact having survived them, in hindsight they were perhaps the best of days! Does that sound completely mad?

Mentioned the other day that I found about 30 copies of this in the loft a bit ago and am bringing them to the game on Sat - they will be on the bar in Dick's afterwards and anyone who would like one, please take one and make a donation in the adjacent box in memory of Sarah Watts, a dedicated Albion campaigner and member of the Falmer For All team, who sadly passed away last week. Money will go to her chosen charity Canine Partners which trains dogs to help people with mobility problems. It's also being played over the PA on Saturday, dedicated to Sarah.
The 'kazoo' on the 'Sussex By the Sea' side is actually Ralph Brown's alto sax. I agree, it does sound like a kazoo, although it sounded like a sax when Ralph played it in the studio. Probably the vat of beer I had had in a nearby Cowfold hostelry.
'Roll Up For The Donkey Derby' is still played whenever I am doing a gig within vomiting distance of Selhurst :)
