SOUTHAMPTON 0
A convincing performance saw Brighton & Hove Albion's under 18s defeat Southampton 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Second-half strikes from Ben Barclay, James Tilley and a brace from Jordan Maguire-Drew helped Albion to a convincing victory.
The first chance of the game fell to Tilley and after a succession of headers from a corner, the ball eventually fell to the striker just a few yards out, but Saints’ keeper Harry Isted was quick off his line to deny him.
Just before half time, Tilley created himself another chance, aggressively pressing Southampton's defenders before winning the ball in the penalty area, but again Isted kept the game goalless with a* strong save.
The Seagulls continued to create chances in the second half, and eventually found the breakthrough goal when Dessie Hutchinson’s cross was headed home by Barclay in the 58th minute.

Less than ten minutes later, a neat interchange on the counter attack between Connor Tighe and Tilley set the latter through on the left flank. The forward then pulled the ball back brilliantly from the byline to find Maguire-Drew, who finished the move with a low strike to double the lead.Maguire-Drew then doubled his own goal tally with 15 minutes of time remaining, receiving the ball on the edge of the box before skinning his opponent excellently and then drilling another great finish into the bottom corner.
Southampton’s Olufela Olomola had his side's best chance of the game late on when he found himself one-on-one with Bailey Vose, but the Albion keeper prevented a consolation goal with a good save from close range.
Tilley rounded off the scoring with a goal his hard work deserved, receiving the ball from Maguire-Drew and then firing a finish into the back of the net to grab Albion’s fourth goal and first victory of 2015.
