Yeah, but he's shit, he'll never be a championship striker. League 1's his level.

I look out for Burnley's results specifically to see how well he's doing, a proper grafter, we miss him.

The highlighted part is the key here.

I think a lot of our fans didn't appreciate how much of an important role Ash played for us. He was never still during a game - constantly harassing and harrying opponents.

He scored against QPR too, but it was disallowed - not sure why. Commentators said his arms were over Green, but he barely touched him, while the defender was hugging Barnes.

"The boy is just too lightweight for pro football, and all the time he has a hole in his arse he wont make it. He'll find his level in the conference within a couple of years."

Some pearlers on there. Mr Burns was on a mission. I also liked this from kevtherev

I have not read through thread and dont care to. Ashley Barnes has 10/11 goals so far this season?.Should be more like 20, he needs 6 chances to score 1. He is not good enough, end of!!!!..I have never rated him and i dont think i ever will. He certainly is not good enough for championship. Average div 1 player at best, but not good enough for us moving forward. Murray is twice the player Barnes is, all over the park.

Good work :lolol:

You'd still be saying this if he was playing in the final of the Champions League, wouldn't you? That's the brilliant thing.

For your own sake, don't dig that hole again. He's just started 7 games in a row in the prem, I believe, scoring in 3 of those plus some assists. He was also singled out for particular praise & analysis on MotD. We are also far weaker for losing him - you were wrong, weren't you?

I cant believe it took me 13 pages to respond on that thread....and I was quite suprised at my response of below, I was never a Barnes lover, but it was clear I knew what he brought to the squad

I would take him back in a heart beat now ofcourse, but when we sold him I did think it was the best thing at the time.

I rate him and like him, Keep doing what your doing Mr Barnes

I agree with this stance. I was also clumsily quick to criticise Barnes at times. Am sorry for that now!

With the Arsenal cup-tie looming, who can forget his first half bullet header followed by the wonderful cross for Leo's diving header.... brings a tear to me' eye now remembering that...
Can't think of anyone in our current crop capable of reproducing those moments next Sunday unfortunately.

I'd far prefer Barnes coming back to Murray Second only to Calde in my estimation over the last few seasons.

He should have had another goal on saturday which was wrongly disallowed.

It was a good battle between him and Dunne, which Barnes won on points with a couple of take downs and a forearm smash. :lolol:
