Chris Hughton has hailed the free-kick routine which gave Albion another victory on the road.
The Seagulls won 1-0 at Charlton in Hughton's first league game in charge thanks to Rohan Ince's 62nd-minute header.
Ince struck at the far post from a deep free-kick delivered by Solly March and described as "excellent" by the new boss.
Hughton admitted: "My first impression was I thought it was too long.
"But I think if you are delivering it with that sort of pace you've always got a chance.
"It's very difficult to defend against and of course what you need is somebody on the end of it to put it in the back of the net.
"Rohan was able to do that."
Albion scored seconds after Chris Solly hit the underside of the bar at the other end.
Hughton said:"My first impression was that it was going to be in but that's the margins of the game."
Albion had to grind out the win. Hughton said: "We were resilient when had to be, we opened up the game and showed real good quality at times.
"Jake (Forster-Caskey) had, I thought, an excellent chance in that second half but I'm really delighted with the win."
