Rohan Ince scored a second-half winner as Albion's revival continued today.
The Seagulls ground out a 1-0 success at Charlton in Chris Hughton's first league game in charge.
It was debatable whether they deserved the success but that did not worry their jubilant following of about 3,000.
Ince headed home at the far post from Solly March's free-kick on 62 minutes.
The goal came just a few seconds after Chris Solly had rattled the underside of the Albion crossbar with a ferocious effort from outside the box.
Home keeper Neil Etheridge made a good save from Jake Forster-Caskey early in the second half.
But his opposite number David Stockdale was busier, with his handful of fine stops including a block from Tony Watt seconds after the ex-Celtic man had gone on as sub.
Watt also poked a great chance inches wide.
And Albion were arguably lucky right on half-time when Joe Bennett seemed to handle in his own area.
But the commanding Stockdale and impressive Gordon Greer and Lewis Dunk in front of him stood firm as the foundation of a third successive away win.
