Albion goal hero Lewis Dunk has moved an unexpected step closer to suspension.
Dunk collected his seventh caution of the season before heading the Seagulls into a late lead in Saturday’s FA Cup win at Brentford.
The centre-half will be banned for two matches if he reaches ten bookings by April 12.
The FA have confirmed to the club that six-goal Dunk received a yellow card from referee David Coote in the first half at Grffin Park for a foul.
Perplexed captain Gordon Greer appeared to be the victim of the punishment. He was widely reported to have been booked in an apparent case of mistaken identity.
Albion narrowly escaped a fine for six bookings in their 2-0 victory in the third round.
Coote cautioned Adam Chicksen, Sam Baldock, Joao Teixeira and substitute Greg Halford as well.
Jake Forster-Caskey, sidelined from the last two matches by illness, is in the same situation as Dunk, three further bookings from a ban by the second Sunday in April.
