I am seeking the advice of the NSC brain trust on my impending trip to Las Vegas. I will be going at the beginning of May with Mrs JVW, my brother and his missus. We will be there for 4 nights. Currently we're torn between staying at the Bellagio or the MGM Grand.

Does anyone have any better suggestions? Or first hand experience of these two hotels?

I've stayed at both.

Although the MGM is a little bit cheaper, I would choose the Bellagio of the two you mention.

Rooms are much more comfortable, better location (by far) and much better facilitoes.

Restaurants are amazing at Bellagio.

Fix for a snack is different class and the steaks at Prime are the best I've ever tasted.

This. There's no contest ... and try the Kobe steak!

Bellagio every time but its like comparing a BMW with a Ford, I have been 3 times and stayed at Caesars the first time (classy) and the last two times stayed at Planet Hollywood whcih was excellent value especially if you upgrade the room and opposite the Bellagio so a good location

Really depends on your budget but I'd go for the Bellagio. I spend about a month a year in Vegas and of the strip hotels my personal fav is the Venetian which has great rooms.

There are plenty of really good hotels a short walk from the strip at half the price but if budget is no odds then prob irrelevant to you

One thing for sure, go and see 'O' at Bellagio. You'll need to book well in advance but won't be disappointed

Happy to give the low down on any aspect if you want to PM

Advice would be to send your birds elsewhere and have a lads' trip to Vegas with your brother

Both hotels are great; the Bellagio is probably a bit more luxurious.

Another vote for the Bellagio out of the two you offer. I've also stayed at both hotels, and support the previously stated view that the MGM Signature is a pretty good set up.

Some amazing restaurants there and some great shows too. 4 nights is about perfect. If the budget allows, grab a helicopter ride out to the Canyon too.

Stayed at the Bellagio for a week a couple of years ago and loved it. Excellent restaurants, especially the Japanese one, amazing Cirque show "O" in the hotel theatre, centrally located, rooms very comfortable, excellent pool complex outside - highly recommended.

Stayed at MGM in August this year. Booked a tower spa suite with hot tub and room was huge. Would def recommend this room type.

Great pool facilities at MGM if that is what you are after. Also prefered the casino at vibe at MGM.

One thing to ignore is when people tell you there is loads of walking involved. If you are a 25 stone yank you may have a problem, but never found it an issue and everywhere is flat unlike Brighton.

Whatever you choose, have fun. Hoping to go back again in August this year.

Only ever stayed at The Venetian which I would recommend. Sadly I don't gamble which kinda shortens the time you'd want to stay in Vegas but the helicopter over the Grand Canyon is breathtaking and will stay in your memory for life. We spent a day and a couple of nights just walking the Strip, stopping off for drinks and meals and just breathing in the atmosphere which is amazing and probably quite unique, and took in a couple of shows which we had pre-booked. Fabulous!
Only thing I would suggest is stay on the strip. Like many big cities worldwide, wandering away from the main centres doesn't always feel safe. Great place to go and if you like to gamble you will want to spend more time there than we did.

Oh man. The Bellagio if you can get a fountain view room. We stayed at what was the Aladdin opposite and got a fountain view, brilliant. Vote too for the Cheesecake factory and the brew pub in the Monte Carlo next door. And the buffet at the Parisian opposite was the best. And yes to the helicopter down the grand canyon.
Footnote to all this was that when we went, a few years back now, a double decker bus service had just started on the strip, one of those hop on - hop off services. Incredibly the yanks were jumping on and going upstairs as it was the first ever double decker bus in the USA.
