People do tend to die where gun battles between rebels and the police and army take place, you do realise?

It's not like any games are being held there either. If FIFA based decisions on World Cups being held in countries where people don't get murdered, they would have a very very small list to work from

Arguably not much different from holding the world cup in England in 1966 with some of the stuff going on in Northern Ireland at the time.

I don't think the "Troubles" really got going until 1969, so quite different.

It was building up before that, although '69 is when the British soldiers entered. Pretty sure there were murders and the paramilitaries formed long before that.
