Former Albion boss Sami Hyypia is being lined up as the next manager of Finland.
Ex-Bolton striker Mixu Paatelainen is currently in charge of the Finland national team.
However, the 47-year-old is under pressure after a disappointing Euro 2015 qualifying campaign to date.
Finland are currently fourth in group F behind Romania, Northern Ireland and Hungary with just one win from four matches and the Faroe Islands are just a point behind them.
Paatelainen’s contact runs until the end of the qualifying campaign but there are growing calls for him to be replaced by Hyypia.
Jari Litmanen, a hugely influential man in Finland as the country’s all-time most capped player and leading scorer, is understood to be canvassing support for his former national team-mate Hyypia to take over should there be a change at the top.
Hyypia is currently considering his options after resigning as Albion manager just before Christmas.
While Paatelainen is expected to be in charge for the March 29 qualifier away to Northern Ireland, defeat could leave him in an untenable position according to sources in Finland.
