Albion have the upper hand in the total of 68 meetings between the two sides, with 30 victories compared to 26 for the Bees while 12 matches have ended all square.
Brighton and Brentford boast one win each from their last two encounters in West London, but Saturday’s hosts went on a five-match unbeaten run in this fixture between August 1998 and March 2011- when a Karleigh Osborne own goal was enough to secure all three points for Albion.
This match will be the first time the two sides have met in the FA Cup in over 27 years, when the Seagulls won 2-0 in a first round tie back in November 1987 before being knocked out of the competition by Arsenal in round four.

Brentford 3-2 Albion
In the first meeting between the two sides in three-and-a-half years, it was the Bees that came out on top in an entertaining contest at Griffin Park. The hosts put Albion on the back foot by going 2-0 up inside the opening 32 minutes, after goals from Moses Odubajo and Andre Gray. Skipper Gordon Greer brought the Seagulls back into the game five minutes prior to half time but the joy was short-lived though, as Jonathan Douglas restored Brentford’s two-goal cushion after firing home a cross from Jake Bidwell just nine minutes after the restart. Danny Holla gave the Seagulls hope of a comeback once again with a superb 25-yard strike on the hour mark, but Albion left West London empty handed.

Albion’s long-awaited win at Griffin Park came in 2011. Casper Ankergren put in a terrific display to keep the hosts at bay, denying Sam Saunders on three separate occasions before Ashley Barnes’s penalty was well saved by Bees keeper Richard Lee. However, with sixteen minutes to go Gus Poyet’s table-topping Albion completed the league double over the Londoners when Karleigh Osborne sidefooted into his own net. The own goal gave the Seagulls three more points towards their march to the League One title while Brentford finished the season in mid-table.

A second-half brace, including a penalty from Garry Nelson, was enough for Albion to battle past their third division counterparts at Griffin Park. The win sparked an impressive cup run for Barry Lloyd’s side, who would get past Northampton and Bournemouth in rounds two and three respectively to set up a glamour tie with Arsenal in round four. The Seagulls ended up being narrowly beaten 2-1 by the Gunners, despite Nelson being on target again.
