New manager, revised managerial structure. Assuming Hughton is given a modest budget in Jan (and spends it), are the Play-Offs a possibility? 17 points off currently. Palace were 19th in 2003 when Dowie took over, and went up via the Play-Off route. We're 21st... :ffsparr: or :albion2:

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I would say we're in something of a false position granted but we're going to need strengthening across a number of areas before we should be ready to challenge. With the constraints we're under financially that may take some time. I'd take consolidation this season so as to give Hughton the summer to assess and strengthen his squad for a real push next year.

Bears repeating.

Lets get real and look at some statistics. To make the layoffs we need around 75 points or another 52 points from 22 games. That's 2.4 points per game.

However we do have a really odd fixture list.

Away we have got to play only one side in the top six and the average table position of the sides we have to at is around 15th.

At home we have to play 5 of the top six and the average table position of the sides we have to play is ~ 9th.

On the face of it that means a really tough second half of the season. However if we find home form and get good away results at lower placed teams we could go up quickly.

We need to make the Amex a fortress now.

If we have taken a better percentage of chances created this season we would now be in the play-offs? Sort this out and we can climb the table.
