The match takes place exactly a month after this season’s reverse fixture at the Amex, where strikes from Hugo Rodallega and Lasse Vigen Christensen gave the West Londoners a 2-1 victory.
Fulham have the edge in the 43 meetings between the two sides, with 21 wins compared to 17 for the Seagulls, while only five matches have ended all square.
Albion will be looking to end the Cottagers’ three-match unbeaten run against them in this fixture, with the last win for the blue-and-white stripes coming in November 1993 when Kurt Nogan’s goal was enough to separate the teams.

Albion came into the game in fifth place and in good form, despite their then-club record-breaking run of 17 league and cup games ending with a 5-2 defeat at Bristol City at the end of December. Looking to bounce back to winning ways, they fell behind after six minutes when Gordon Davies fired Fulham ahead. Albion responded after the break though, when Mike Trusson equalised 12 minutes into the second half, before John Keeley saved Peter Scott’s spot-kick two minutes later. With seven minutes remaining, Dale Jasper won it for the Seagulls in the season they went on to finish runners-up behind Sunderland, securing promotion to Division Two.

Albion headed to Craven Cottage in 22nd place to face a Fulham side who sat a place below them in the table. In what was a cagey affair, the visitors scored the only goal of the game when Kurt Nogan netted his 10th strike of the season just before the hour mark to secure only a third win in 16 league games. Both sides remained in the relegation zone after the game, but Albion went onto survive under manager Liam Brady, finishing 14th.

It was top versus bottom as Albion travelled to league leaders Fulham in need of a victory. The Seagulls could have taken the lead after 26 minutes when Craig Maskell was tripped in the box. However, with usual penalty taker Denny Mundee on the bench, Maskell stepped up and saw his effort saved by Tony Lange. Albion had defended well until just after the hour mark when Fulham took the lead through Mike Conroy.
