Karl Robinson appears to have ruled himself out of the running for the vacant manager's post at Albion.
The Seagulls reportedly approached League One MK Dons to speak to the 34-year-old Liverpudlian.
Robinson, speaking before yesterday's 1-0 win at Notts County, told BBC Three Counties Radio: "There is no smoke without fire. But it was a decision that me and the club came to.
"It's a privilege to be linked to a club such as Brighton, but I've made a lot of promises to people at this club in the summer and I have to stick to my word."
Robinson, not thought to be at the top of Albion's wanted list due to his lack of Championship experience, takes charge of his 250th game for second-placed MK Dons at home to Walsall tomorrow.
