Let's do it

Encourage people to get in earlier, singers can get together more. You can take mates, who can then sit with you. Might create a bit more noise

Tough if you like your seat. It would be unreserved so it wouldn't be yours.
Could still have season tickets, if you wanted your seat just get in early

A good idea. It would need a vote though. Also, some seats were sold with licenses so this might be an issue.

Yeah, licenses could make this a non starter. Especially if a license holder started going down the legal route. Unless sufficient compensation was offered.

Also 'the singers' would have to get in early to try and organise themselves otherwise it would be similar to now, spread out all over the shop.

Bad idea TBH but need to do something to fill the North stand, attendance this year in the North stand is poor. I would sell out the North standard before opening up some of then other sections.

Not allowed, I've asked the club before.

Would be in breach of the clubs license and also Football League rules.

def a No from me, got ST for good seats with family members, and its the games where we often hook up, had them for a few seasons. Can arrive 5 mins before game (which i need to because of work sometimes).

More signing and a better atmosphere is a good idea, asking people to give up their ST seats for some easyjet type free for all scrum is bad idea. never going to happen, club wont agree, many STH wont agree and stewards will turf you out.

have you considered a drum :moo:

Really? I can think of several away games where we have not been allocated a specific seat.

Logistically
I think you could feasibly manage unreserved seating in North unless a threshold ( 90-95% of seats had been sold) at which point you could require people to use allocated seat number. Anything approaching capacity would be problematic for people seeking spare seats. Easy to manage by simply indicating on match day whether seat numbers were being enforced.

This also ensures groups are never split up. As you either have your allocated seats together or there's enough spares for you to sit together

Whatever you do will upset someone we need to do what right for the team but it's how you manage change! We got a fight on our hands to stay in the championship but it makes the second half of the season exciting.lets get behind the team they will have good support at the next few away games in London.

People keep chasing this dream, like it will solve everything if we have standing and unreserved seating equals great atmosphere. Maybe if everyone all around the ground took some responsibility for singing, then there wouldn't be a problem. It will make no difference changing the North as you will have more problems as people fight over seats. The idea that everyone who goes into the North does so to sing is a misconception, for some it's a matter of cost, as they are the cheapest seats and some like the view and also some like to stand. The atmosphere should not be down to just one stand to create, it's for the whole ground.

Couldn't they get around it in a similar fashion to what they did with the AMS (Away Members Scheme) , we paid £10 for life membership only for the club to introduce a new scheme (life membership in this case applied to the scheme and not the individual) where you would be transferred across but if you didn't arrange it within the set deadline had to cough up another £10 to join that scheme. Fans who have paid for their license can either have the option of being physically given the seat to take home with them (by prior arrangement) or the seat is moved elsewhere in the stand but still keeps the reference ID number.

Part of me does wonder if we are simply chasing something which will never happen. We rarely had any notable or really sustained significant atmosphere at the Goldstone. Sure there was singing in the north, and from the north it sounded awesome. But from other parts of the ground it didn't sound much. On occasion the entire ground joined in but often with just a few bars of "Seagulls"

The AMEX atmosphere is the same.

Aren't those that sing still getting tanked up in the bars right up until the teams come out?

Can't comment on the singers, but it looks like our midfield is.

Don't really mind what they do in the north stand as it's not my area, but reckon it's a poor decision in principle, and a dangerous precedent, to force people ( who don't want to ) to move their seats.

Oh yes, the laughable spin from Dick Knight that 'lifetime' meant 'lifetime of the scheme' ( ie not really lifetime as it was sold ).
