Brighton & Hove Albion interim manager Nathan Jones has urged the fans to get behind the team and generate an incredible atmosphere against Reading on Boxing Day.Jones says that the Albion fans can play a crucial role in how the team performs on Friday, as the side look to return to winning ways against the Royals.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “It’s an important game and if we start positively, we can lift the mood of everyone quickly.
“From the board of directors, coaches, academy staff, media, fans and players, we all have a role to play, but it is the fans and players who are going to be the most important on Friday.
“We want to lift the fans, but we also want the fans to come with a real energy about them and remember who we are.
“I also want to put out a team that’s worthy of getting a result and that’s going to lift the place, to get the fans on our side.
“I want them to see that we have a group of players who want to play for the shirt rather than focus on any tactical changes or personnel changes.”

The Welshman also stressed how important it is that Albion start climbing the table.“It goes without saying how important it is we stay up, especially after where we’ve come from and how we’ve established ourselves since the time when I played for the club.
“When I played for the club, we were a club that came into the Championship and our sole aim was to survive because we knew that the infrastructure and the budget wasn’t conducive to excelling in this division.
“Things have changed and the club has moved on. We have been a perennial play-off team after having two relatively successful years and it’s important we continue that trend.
“Friday’s game is an important one, because it's the next game and regardless of the points tally, so I am not putting too much emphasis on the gap.
“Clubs have their ups and downs and it’s all about how you come through those dips, which is going to be the test now at Brighton. But the club is amazing and keeps coming through those times.”
