........ in the summer, from which TB chose Sami.

as reported from last month's Seagulls over London meeting

So presumably TB will go back to the unsuccessful candidates and have one of those in, unless he plans to start the whole process again from scratch, from Australia.

If Hyypia was the best option maybe we should avoid the other seven?

I think he will go back to that list + Adkins and McDermott who weren't available then.

Interviewing clearly makes no difference, so just stick a pin in the list.

God knows how long it will take to make a call this time with TB in Australia and Xmas and New year slowing everything down. What are the odds of another fruitless January transfer window?

It has been suggested that Hypia was 5th choice as the top 4 turned it down for various reasons. 3 of that 4 are still unemployed so perhaps the T & C offered will have changed and they would now be in a position to accept the job.

Whoever gets the job hope they revert to 4-4-2 at home.

Bloom would not answer any questions at that meeting as to whom the other candidates were, only saying that "we had a very high quality field of applicants". He also said that he had carefully checked out Bayer Leverkusen's reasons for dismissing Hyypia and that they didn't cause him any concern. He also felt, having checked this out, no reservations about appointing another foreign manager. Maybe he will think long and hard before doing so again.

clearly those other 7 werent considered good enough and i cant see them taking this job on now knowing a) they were passed over before and b) have to fight relegation. unless one of them is desperate to get into management, and frankly the last thing we need is another bloody newbie. steady the ship push for next year, so we need someone with some experience and a bit of gravity in the game (and dare i say the division) to work this through.

It was suggested that Sherwood turned it down because he wanted to bring his own back room staff and a couple of players from Spurs. Perhaps the club would say yes now although his back room staff of Ferdinand and Ramsey have gone to QPR.

I'm not in the know and never will be but business logic says the new manager has been signed up already and will be announced on 1 January. No idea who he is except that as of a week or so ago he will have been out of a job. This has been planned. So it's not Adkins and it's not McCoist thank god.

One man's meat is another man's poison. The problem is that you just don't know how a new manager will turn out. Seriously would anyone have predicted in July that Sami Hyypia would be gone within six months with just 3 league wins from 22 games.

So who do the club go for? A manager who will be short term to ensure that we don't get relegated and then move on? Or, someone who will have a long term contract and basically fulfill what Sami Hyypia failed to do.

Decisions. Decisions.

I'm not in the know and never will be but business logic says ...

business logic says you dont spend 90% of turnover on staff, or pay millions of pounds to register them to work for you. lets not apply business logic to football, it doesnt apply. at best we can hope that Bloom has a target list, at least a set of key requirements.
