In the last ten years there have been thirty promotions from the Championship
Only ONE non-British manager (just Di Matteo, that's it)
Stop appointing foreigners just because they seem more glamorous and appoint somebody who can get us out of this division in the right direction, i.e. a reliable, unspectacular British manager with a record of success at this level

Great post. He's too small minded and set in his ways to do this though. He came out recently and said something along the lines of 'I like appointing managers that used to be centre backs because they see the whole game'. What the hell has that got to with anything. Were our two previous successful managers centre backs? Are all the top managers always centre backs? Does Bloom know something that other Chairman don't? Bloom believes his own hype.

would u take McLeish? Bothroyd? how about available Jewell?

Billy Davies, Coyle and Adkins are free.... get them in?

There's many variables in getting promotion, the biggest is players and budget. Zola came within a sniff at Watford and i'd rather him than any of British managers i listed. Good knowledge of the English league and English players is more important, thats why Gus was succesfull, got us promoted and in the championship play off lottery. He didn't need to be British, he just needed to know the league.

how many British managers got relegated from the championship? last season Yeovil, Barnsley and Donny all had british managers, Charlton binned theirs employed a Belgian and climbed up the table...........

Is this a serious post? Davies has spent a lifetime winging about budget restraints. It's like someone has had a look at a list and picked some at random. Adkins is not going to be welcome here and if you need to ask why then perhaps you should do a bit more research. Exactly how much success has McLeish had relegation and promotion at Brum and just avoiding the drop with Villa? Coyle got Burnley promoted and then promptly jumped ship. Not had a great CV since! Jewell had a great season with Bradford and a few good years with Wigan but that's it. What else?

None of them really have a great pedigree of success. They might be better than Hyypia, they might not.

Coyle is Scottish and Rodgers North Irish but McCarthy, despite his international career is definitely English. Have you heard his broad Yorkshire accent!

This has been done to death:

The repeated mantra that more British managers get promoted from the Championship, ignores the obvious fact that more British managers manage in the Championship. You might as well argue that Arsenal were wrong to appoint Wenger because British managers had been more successful in the top division for the previous half a century.

The ridiculousness of the argument could be highlighted by the statistical fact that, Chris Hughton is the only black manager on the list. Nobody would use this to argue that clubs shouldn't appoint managers from ethnic minorities, as this is an obviously stupid argument which ignores the under representation of black managers in the division. Let's stop having threads which do the same thing with nationality.

What nationalities were the managers who got teams relegated from the Championship? How many of them were British?

I'm not one of those calling for Hyypia sacking. However, I do not like his tactics. Just a personal preference for the Poyet lop-sided system 4-3-3.

Stats say that Teixeira lost possession ten times against Wolves and nil for Forster-Caskey. Both were much more involved in play than Solly March who only lost the ball two times. My interpretation is why play Solly March and Tex in the same team? The same old story, you can only play on one wing at a time. No point in having two wingers as one of the two does not get involved. Team selection is a bit iffy as well.

Play one winger and one overlapping full back.
