Three of Albion's Championship rivals have been hit by a transfer embargo for failing to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
Leeds, Blackburn and Nottingham Forest will be under an embargo from January 1 for the rest of the campaign after exceeding last season's maximum permitted deviation of £8 million, covering operating losses and shareholder investment.
Bolton, Bournemouth, Birmingham and Middlesbrough, who had all been linked with sanctions, have stayed within the regulations.
Leeds are the punished club closest to Albion in the table. They are five points and three places higher than the third-bottom Seagulls.
Blackburn and Forest are just outside the play-offs in eighth and ninth respectively.
Albion chief executive Paul Barber confirmed earlier this month the club had kept within FFP boundaries.
