Morning all, newbie here. Hopefully one of you can help my quest.

I am trying to compile a detailed history of team lineups in the Southern League from 1894 to 1920 and have bitten off more than I can chew!

Aside from a Swindon (http://www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk/) and West Ham (http://www.westhamstats.info/) website, I haven't been able to find any others that detail line ups from that era.

A Spurs site (http://www.topspurs.com/) provides , but no lineups. A QPR site also exists (http://www.qprnet.com/) that has downloadable Excel sheets by season with full details too.

Does anyone have any ideas whether a similar site exists for BHA stattos? Or indeed any other ex-Southern League team?

I think maybe I should try my hand at Alchemy - turning base metals into gold currently seems an easier task!

Many thanks in advance!

Apologies, forgot to mention I have found Southampton SL lineups in "A Complete History of SFC 1885-1987" ISBN 0 907969 22 4, and Reading match details and scorers, but no line ups, in "Heaven on Earth" by Alan Sedunary, ISBN 1 874427 798.

So just Brighton, Portsmouth, Luton, CHatham (!), Clapton (!), Ilford (!), Royal Ordnance Factories (!!) etc etc to go. !!

Tim Carder's MAGNIFICENT book 'Seagulls! - The Story of Brighton & Hove Albion FC' has the information you require.

It covers Brighton United (1898-1900) through to Brighton & Hove Albion

This - it's got the lot.

I know it doesn't cover the period you want, but for the rest of us stattos, www.enfa.co.uk is brilliant. You to take out a subscription to get the full info, but it's worth it

Thanks Hilney, yes you're right. Great site, already fully paid up member and can recommend to all. Hopefully one day they will start backwards from 1920 for SL/NL/WL etc stuff, but would expect they are fully stretched just keeping it up to date with current matches!
