Talking Point: Changing times at Albion [The Argus]

Andrea Orlandi has blamed Albion's position in the Championship relegation zone on too many changes to the team.
Sour Spanish grapes from a player controversially released at the end of last season or an accurate appraisal?
There is no doubt Orlandi was hurt by the club dispensing with his services.
The gifted midfielder was top of the combined goals and assists chart in his first season at the Amex, when Albion reached the play-offs under Gus Poyet.
Injuries reduced his influence and part in another top six finish last season under Oscar Garcia.
The club viewed this as a signal of decline, subsequently emphasised by Orlandi's difficulty finding another English club until securing a deal with rock-bottom Blackpool.
They might be right but you will not find many Albion supporters who think the midfield options have improved since the release of Orlandi and his compatriot David Lopez.
Eleven players were signed by the Seagulls, permanently or on loan, during the summer transfer window.
Another four were drafted in during the emergency loan window, to cover for injuries and to improve the team.
That is an awful lot of changes, which Orlandi regards as a risky strategy.
It does not, however, automatically follow that widespread change is followed by a dramatic downturn in fortunes.
Southampton have demonstrated that by being ultra-smart with their replacement recruitment, which is where Albion have fallen down.
