Bruno has called on Albion’s older heads to lead their team out of trouble.
The vastly experienced right-back believes the Seagulls must pull away from the bottom three as soon as possible.
That means the veterans leading the way – and treading a fine line between reassurance and motivation with their younger colleagues.
Bruno has secured a contract extension until the end of 2015-16 and is desperate not to spend his fourth season of English football in League One.
Albion go to Derby on Saturday and he said: “We, the more veteran players, now have to take the lead.
“The younger players aren’t used to playing in situations like this. Also, they maybe don’t quite realise what it means to be near the bottom.
“Obviously they need to play with calmness, not feeling pressure.
“But it’s a balance because we need to make sure they are conscious of the gravity of the situation.”
Albion are in the drop zone as they visit the leaders in their 20th match of the season.
Bruno said: “There is a long way to go but it is really important you get out of this situation as soon as you can.”
