Brighton & Hove Albion have announced transport plans for the Boxing Day match with Reading at the American Express Community Stadium. The club has worked with travel partners to ensure that fans can get to the Amex and home again as quickly as possible. Key pieces of advice for fans are:
- Walking, cycling and using motorbikes are excellent options
- Public transport services are available, but limited, check with timetables before you travel
- For near-site parking, it is essential to pre-book near-site parking BEFORE post deadline of 18th December and if possible please join our car-share service

Albion's transport manager Steve Reeves, told seagulls.co.uk, "Being Boxing Day there has always been limited services on bus and no rail services. Working with our travel partners at Brighton & Hove Buses and Southern Railways we have been able to provide a limited match day travel service. It is essential that fans make their travel plans in plenty of time.
"For those opting to drive, and use our parking facilities it is absolutely essential to pre-book before the Christmas post deadline of 18th December and share your journey with a fellow Albion fan.
“If you are opting for park and ride please arrive early as park and ride sites are expected to be busy and where possible consider Mithras House and the Racecourse where there is more space available.”

Walking and Cycling
More and more fans are choosing the option to walk or cycle to the Amex. Walking and cycling are great ways to burn of some of those excess Christmas calories. We now have many fans that walk for up to an hour to the stadium on a matchday. Check out a journey planner here and see how long it will take you to walk or cycle to the Amex.Bus Services
On Boxing Day Brighton & Hove Buses are running services on most of their routes. Details of the services and the timetables are published on their website here.
For some routes across the city (not direct to the stadium) they will be reduced services, and some will have no service. For those services direct to the stadium or nearby there will be a decent level of service, with four or six services per hour.
The club is also paying for two extra ‘Football Special’ buses to run from the Old Stiene to the Stadium, which will maintain the standard match day service along Lewes Road.
We are also running additional park-and-ride buses from all sites, to accommodate extra demand. Fans that don't usually use park-and-ride services are advised to opt for Mithras House or Racecourse.
Trains Services
There has never been any kind of rail services along the coast on Boxing Day this is because the train operators' contract does not require the company to run on Boxing Day.
Working closely with Southern Rail and British Transport Police we will be providing the usual matchday service between Brighton and Lewes, running from 12.30pm until 8pm.
From those travelling on the London to Brighton line there will be only one service per hour running from London Victoria calling at Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Gatwick, and Haywards Heath only.
There are no train services east of Lewes or west of Brighton.
Coaches
Seagulls Travel will run extra coaches if there is a demand. The advice here to fans is to book early. You can book via their website here. Also, three of our independent supporters' groups: Seagulls Over Burwash, North West Sussex Seagulls and Mid Sussex Seagulls will also be running services to the game. Contact them direct to book a seat.
Car Parking
We have secured additional parking at the University of Sussex, and the Bridge Car Park. It is essential near-site parking is purchased in advance, and supporters to car share if using the park-and-ride or near site parking. Join the car share service here and see how many fellow Albion fans you can share the journey and costs with.
