Albion*captain Gordon Greer has been awarded a new contract.
The Scotland international centre-half was due to be out of contract at the end of the season.
The Argus understands details of his new deal will be officially announced by the club next week.
Greer, 34 next month, has been a key figure in Albion’s rise from League One to the Championship under three different managers since the Seagulls bought him from Swindon Town for £250,000 in July 2010.
He was a regular for Gus Poyet and Oscar Garcia as Albion reached the play-offs in each of the last two seasons.
Greer has remained an integral part of the defensive strategy since Sami Hyypia was appointed manager in the summer.
The Glaswegian is the only player to have played every minute of every league game for Hyypia and makes his 190th appearance for the club against Fulham at the Amex tomorrow.
Greer has also established himself over the last 18 months as a regular member of Gordon Strachan’s Scotland squad seeking to qualify for the Euro 2016 finals.
Lewis Dunk, Greer’s regular partner so far this term, was awarded a new four-year deal in July.
Dunk, 23, returns from suspension against Fulham as fifth-bottom Albion bid for a second home win out of three which would ease them above their opponents.
