So our former Chef Exec is standing as a Labour Candidate in next year's Brighton & Hove City Council Elections. Assuming he will be successful - what next for him? Martin Perry has never been one to take a back seat in an organisation. How long before he becomes leader of the Labour Group, and potentially leader of the City Council?

Thats a good move for the B&H Labour party. Perry has a massive local profile, he should get alot of support. Leader of City Council, why stop there?

He's standing in an interesting ward - Hangleton and Knoll - which is currently represented by two Tories, Dawn Barnett and Tony Janio, and one Labour councillor, Brian Fitch who is standing down. Advancement up the hierarchy of the Labour group would probably require him to be living in the city, which I don't believe he does.
