Brighton & Hove Albion women’s manager James Marrs says his side put in their best passing display of the season following a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Culver Road. The Seagulls secured a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions following Lucy Somes’s second-half brace and Marrs was delighted with his side’s work on the ball.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “We moved the ball around really well and it is something we worked on during the week.
“QPR didn’t have too much of the ball and we constantly made them work to try and win it back, which was really important.
“Our movement off the ball in the first half wasn’t up to scratch, but I gave the girls a target to improve that after half-time. They managed to do that and we got our just rewards.”

The Albion manager then praised Somes for netting her ninth and tenth goals of the season in another energetic display.“Lucy Somes has a fantastic attitude and her work-rate is second to none.
“She works tirelessly up and down that left-hand side and deserves every good bit of fortune she gets because she works her socks off in both training and in the matches.
“She got a bit of luck with her second goal, as her first shot hit the crossbar and then came back to her feet, but you deserve that luck when you’re playing well.
“The goals are racking up for her now and I hope her goalscoring form continues.”
Marrs was also thrilled to hand Danielle Carlton her Albion debut, following her return from a long-term knee injury picked up while playing for Gillingham.
“She may have been a bit worried when she came on but seemed fine after a few touches on the ball. It was really good to get her back into the team and we’ll gradually give her more game time in the coming weeks. The squad as a whole is now looking very promising.”
