For all the negativity at the moment I still love to see the likes of Walton, Ince, JFC and Dunk progressing so well, albeit at different rates.

Whilst it may cost us in the short term development of these type of players is key if we are to prosper long term.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday, and more about the age of our midfield, Bennett is practically an oap in there ! All bodes well in my opinion. The side in general is a very young one.

Walton - 19 (just)
Calderon - 32
Greer - 33
Dunk - 22
Bennett, J -24
Bennett, E - 25
Forster-Caskey - 20
Gardner - 22
Ince - 22 (just)
LuaLua -23 (doesn't he seem a LOT older?)
Baldock - 25

If you take out Baldock and the loan players, all the others were signed during Poyet watch.

That really does highlight a big reason why we are struggling as are Fulham who have taken a similar approach. Personally have no issue with doing it this way but fear most fans won't have the patience for it.

What manager can be blamed for performances with this kind of squad though? When you compare this to the team that Gus got us 4th with which contained largely players at their peak.
