Brighton & Hove Albion women’s manager James Marrs says that his side's fitness work on the training ground is starting to pay dividends, as they prepare to face Queens Park Rangers at Culver Road on Sunday, 2pm kick-off.
*
The Seagulls have scored ten goals in their last two games, with eight of those coming in the last 25 minutes of the match.
*
Marrs told seagulls.co.uk, “We’ve identified that our goals have come in the later stages of the game and it’s apparent that the fitness work we’ve been doing with the girls is starting to reap its rewards.
*
“We’ve scored five goals in the last two games and many of those come from 65 minutes onwards in the business end of the game.
*
“That’s really pleasing from our perspective and we’re hoping it continues, but it would be nice to score more goals early on in matches.
*
“If we can combine the two by scoring earlier on and put ourselves on the front foot then it gives us something to look after and allows us to control our games a lot more.”

Despite scoring goals freely in recent games, the Albion coach is challenging his players to improve their movement on the ball.
*
“Last week our work off the ball was quite good and our aggressiveness as a team was a lot better, but our possession play was not good enough.
*
“I’m looking for an overall complete performance where our passing is good, as well as our work off the ball.”
*
Marrs then looked ahead to the challenge that QPR will pose and he expects another close game after Albion’s 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture at Uxbridge back in September.
*
“We’re just heading towards the midway point of the season and now is when picking up points really starts to matter.
*
“We had a close game with them last time, but I felt the scoreline didn’t do justice to how the game went. We know it will be a really tight game, as they’re well organised and a competitive side.
*
“The expectations of the players are the same regardless of who we play against and I will be expecting them to put in the same level of application as last week.”
*
The Seagulls almost have a fully-fit squad to choose from, with Danielle Carlton and Vicky Ashton-Jones close to completing their respective comebacks from knee injuries.
*
Admission to Sunday’s game is free to all Albion season-ticket holders on production of their card and for children under-16. Otherwise entry is priced at £3 for adults.[h=3]ALBION V blackburn
