Albion stay 20th in the Championship tonight – thanks largely to Blackpool goalkeeper Joe Lewis.
Lewis, who almost joined the Seagulls when Dean Wilkins was in charge, impressed in the second half as the ten-man Seasiders clung on for a 2-2 draw at Fulham.
Albion leapfrogged Fulham by beating Wigan last night and remain above them thanks to tonight’s result by the Thames.
Rock bottom Blackpool, who dropped eight points adrift on Tuesday, went into an early 2-0 lead tonight through Ishmael Miller and new signing Jacob Murphy.
But the dismissal of Tony McMahon for an off-the-ball incident late in the first half turned the contest.
Scott Parker got a goal back for Fulham just before the interval.
Bryan Ruiz levelled from a corner on 73 minutes but Lewis made several superb saves to ensure a point.
Meanwhile Brentford enjoyed an excellent 3-1 win at woeful Nottingham Forest, who were arguably flattered by the final score.
