Albion grabbed their first win in 12 league games tonight – thanks to a goal after just 54 seconds.
Gary Gardner fired the winner from Sam Baldock’s low cross as the Seagulls beat Wigan 1-0 on a nervous night at the Amex.
Returning favourite Elliott Bennett and Joao Teixeira were heavily involved in the move down the right.
Teixeira later crashed a great first-half chance against the underside of the bar when he shoud have scored.
But Wigan dominated possession and forced Christian Walton into some decent saves on his home debut.
Lewis Dunk blocked a goalbound effort by the dangerous Martyn Waghorn.
Albion posed little threat in the second half but cheers of relief rang out at the end.
