Sami Hyypia has told his young Albion defender not to be too down about a game-turning penalty.
But he admits his team must stop conceding soft goals after watching them lose 3-2 at Bournemouth.
Adrian Colunga and Sam Baldock notched their first league goals for the Seagulls in an exciting contest.
But Albion were sunk by a Gordon Greer own goal, a deflection and a penalty given for Lewis Dunk's foul on Callum Wilson.
Hyypia said: "Dunky has been brilliant all season long.
"I think it was a penalty. When you go down in the penalty area to challenge, then you have to be 100% sure that you get the ball.
"I'm very happy how Dunky has done this season.
"He should not be feeling too bad about it.
"I think both goals before that were pretty easy as well.
"If we keep conceding these easy goals then we will make it very hard for us to win games.
"We will need to think hard now what we can do to change it.
"They seem to be more individual things than something structural so that is very hard to change with formation or whatever.
"But we will try hard to cut them out."
Hyypia was pleased with his side's work going forward.
He added: "I thought we scored two good goals.
"I can't blame the effort of the players.
"I think they fought the whole game "We managed to get back to 2-2 and I thought there would be only one winner at that moment."
