Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi on a one-month loan deal.

The 32-year-old Omani international keeper will go straight into Sami Hyypia’s squad for the SkyBet Championship match against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Al-Habsi has been brought into the club to provide cover for David Stockdale, who missed Wednesday’s Capital One Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham with a finger injury.

After playing a season for Al-Nasr in Oman, Al-Habsi secured a move to Norwegian side Lyn Oslo and spent three years at the club before moving to Bolton Wanderers in 2006.

In a bid to gain regular first-team football, Al-Habsi signed for Wigan Atheltic on a season-long loan deal in July 2010 and an impressive campaign ensured a permanent £4million move at the end of the season.

He established himself as a first-team regular at the DW Stadium, but has only made one appearance for the Latics this season in their Capital One Cup first round defeat at Burton.Al-Habsi, who will wear squad number 1, will be ineligible for Tuesday night's game with parent club Wigan Athletic.
