It’s more recognition of the work we do amongst the local community to try and encourage our fans to lead healthier or better lifestyles. "

Brighton & Hove Albion and Albion in the Community have been awarded a Healthy Stadia Award Plaque by the European Healthy Stadia Network for their contribution to the improvement of public health.
*

The European Healthy Stadia network operates across 13 European counties and has over 300 members that come from a variety of organisations, including sports clubs and governing bodies of sport.
*
Albion and AITC entered the application process this year and panel members from the European Healthy Stadia network were impressed by both the stadium policies and community health projects ran by the club and the charity.
*
AITC’s ‘Make a Change’ programme was one of the standout projects submitted in the application which is delivered to the 15 schools nearest to the Amex stadium. This has engaged 12,000 5-11 year olds in the last five years.

By winning the plaque, both the club and charity are now in the same company as some of the biggest stadium and sporting brands from across the world; with the likes of Liverpool FC, Aviva Stadium (Dublin), Juventus Stadium (Turin), National Cycling Centre (Manchester) and SL Benfica (Lisbon) also receiving the award.
*
Executive director, Martin Perry, says it is another endorsement of the great work which Albion and AITC do within the local community and of the fantastic facilities on offer at the Amex.
*
He told seagulls.co.uk, “It’s more recognition of the work we do amongst the local community to try and encourage our fans to lead healthier or better lifestyles.
*
“We are also alongside some other big organisations in receiving this award because our stadium ranks among the best in the country.”
*
“A lot of work goes on, particularly within AITC, for us to get us to get this recognition and we’re delighted to receive the award.” [h=3]ALBION V WIGAN
