SV Hamburg v Bayern Munich

Bayern far to strong for Hamburg and were 2-0 up very quickly with a goal disallowed as well. Ribery was the panto hate man for lashing out twice. Neuer had little to do but game finished 3-1 to Bayern.

Hordes of Bayern fans in the Hamburg end and non stop singing from both sets of fans, zillions of Police but no trouble.

Textbook traffic management coming home as a stream of bendy buses takes everyone back to the nearest S bahn station and back to city centre in 30 minutes.

57,000 sell out and got two returns at the club shop on the day, 62 euros but up in the gods.

Nice to have a beer or 3 at your seat for a change.

Some trouble at the end of the game. Did you see the fan run onto the pitch and the subsequent altercation with Ribery?

Yes we did, apart from the goal the Hamburg fans seemed to approve of this altercation.

We had Bayern fans in front and behind us and one Hamburg fan next to me gave them the full volley of abuse.

Vorsprung durch techniche as they say in Germany. Why are our saxon cousins so much better than us at football ? how did the eastern front go so badly in WW2 ?

I used to work with a German guy who's grandad (who was in the Wehrmacht in WW2) blamed the French for the disaster on the eastern front but for another reason...their poor vehicles.

Apparently, after the fall of France, the Germans pinched all of the French army's trucks and whatnot for the assault on Russia. Well guess what. The French lorries were forever breaking down and causing delays in bringing supplies up!

According to him it was Citroen and Renault who defeated Germany, not the red army.

But the question REMAINS did you have to buy a TRAIN ticket ?

Probably not as HSV Hamburg tickets, like most Bundesliga match tickets, include travel to and from the game.
