FA Cup third round
Tottenham 2-1 Albion
The most recent meeting ended in a narrow defeat for Albion in a gutsy display at White Hart Lane. Ledley King gave Tottenham the lead with a header five minutes before the interval, after heading Reto Ziegler’s cross past Michel Kuipers. It did not take long for the Seagulls to bounce back, as Richard Carpenter’s superb curling free kick beat Paul Robinson to level the scores. The two teams remained at 1-1 until the 83rd minute when Robbie Keane chested down Erik Edman’s cross, then produced a superb volley on the turn that beat Kuipers to give Spurs the victory.

Tottenham 0-1 Albion
Albion secured their only ever away victory at White Hart Lane in this old top-flight clash, as Michael Robinson’s 70th minute winner secured the three points for Mike Bailey’s side. The result was the second game in a seven-match unbeaten run for the Seagulls, which ended in a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on 28th November. The blue-and-white stripes lost the reverse fixture 3-1 at the Goldstone the following March, and the early season hopes of claiming a European place diminished as the side finished in 13th place. Meanwhile, Spurs claimed a fourth-placed finish.
