...that Cumberbatch bloke playing Sherlock, or the Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar sketches?

I've never watched Sherlock before, nor do I intend to start, but having heard some of it today I couldn't help but think of the brilliant Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar.

So is the latter a parody of the former? or did they cast Cumberbatch in the role after Mitchell and Webb had done their thing?

Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar is definatly first. Mitchell and Webb sketch show was genius.

Both of these points are definitely correct. Plus also the very last Mitchell and Webb sketch (and also one of the best sketches I've seen) was also a Sherlock Holmes sketch, although not the same by any means :
