Apologies for an off topic post but does anyone posting on NSC work in the business of unblocking drains and could possibly give me some impartial advice on a bill my mother-in-law has had today for unblocking an external drain and 4 metres of underground pipework?

I won't bore everyone with the details but if someone could help I'd be grateful if they could PM me or let me know who they are and I'll contact them.

Thanks in advance.

Pipe work. Bore. Intended pun?

Too late by the sound of your story, but earlier this year we, by luck, came across a one man band specialist of drain unblocking, based in Brighton. It was something like £25 cash if he couldn't do it, £50 cash if he unblocked the drain. Solved our problem, and he visited just an hour after being called.

i contacted a local plumber, cash in hand £50. actually he only wanted £45 but i wasnt too keen on having any change once he'd had his hand down my sewer.

alternatively look at getting a set of drain rods for £30.

I found it worthwhile getting a B gas contract for home services it covers electrics and drains etc and as we have kitchen drain that gets blocked up nearly once a year because its close to some trees that shed loads of leaves every time I'm not looking! Your going to pay about £50 a time so its worth it
