Albion in the Community teamed up with anti-racism organisation, Kick it Out, and two Brighton & Hove Albion women players to host a workshop for local schoolchildren.

Chloe Lelliot and Danielle Rowe both delivered messages of equality and anti-racism to the youngsters at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA).

Kick It Out is well known throughout football for their pioneering work in challenging discrimination and encouraging inclusive practices within the game.Rowe told seagulls.co.uk, "The workshop was good and it was interesting to see how the kids reacted to the session’s topics."

Fellow Albion player Lelliot believes the day was an enlightening experience to find out exactly what Kick it Out does as an organisation.

The Key Stage 3 students took part in a variety of discussions about racism, discrimination within sport, and when banter can become something much more harmful.

Evan Edwards, who attended the session, told seagulls.co.uk, “It’s important that workshops like this are given, because we need to know exactly what could be considered offensive."

Rishi Jain, Kick it Out’s Football League clubs’ development officer, delivered the workshop which aimed to teach the children about the negative impact of certain words and phrases.He told seagulls.co.uk “The kids really bought into the session, they understood what we were doing and the message we were trying to send out about the importance of inclusion, equality, and respect.

"It’s massively important that we continue to work with club community schemes, like AITC, to engage more with local communities throughout the country."
