Where would we be without Knight & Perry?

Certainly wouldn't have the planning permission approved and the way paved for the big money to swan on in. Total respect to the guys that did the hard graft.

Just a platform for the old guard to have a licking session. Knight and Perry are great and all but so's Bloom. Such a boring argument. Both saved the football club end of discussion.

Well, he'd have failed to reach his end goal of a new stadium as the financial crisis would have ruined us.

Without Knight and Perry devoting YEARS of their lives to wading through all that planning bullshit and finally winning planning permission, there would never have been any prospect of a new stadium. Somebody/anybody with money would have come in at the point where the planning permission was granted. That was the easy bit. American Express in particular deserve no credit whatsoever. They'd have happily stood by and seen the club go under if planning permission was not forthcoming.

Without Archer there would have been no Dick Knight...it's a pointless argument. There's a reason they were all out on the pitch before the Spurs friendly....They all need each other. End of story

Without DK and MP, I reckon Archer and Bellotti would have eventually sold the Club as a dead duck to whoever would have stumped up the funds for Bellotti's retirement package. Probably a business associate of Paul Scally, who would have allowed the Albion to be wound up, once the time limit for the Priestfield ground share expired.

I actually think it's the same answer as Bloom, somewhere in League one.

All these threads share the same kind of problem, it's not the rich men who make the club, it's the fans. If the worst had come to the worst in 1997, the fans would have ensured the club was reborn. AFC Dons are in League 2 now I think as a better supported club we'd have gone one better than that

With regard to the first sentence I'm reminded that a proportion of the Albion fanbase is so mean-spirited and dour and lacking in sweet charity that it would make the AGM of a temperance society look like an all night party. What on earth was the point of even bothering to type it?
