Seems a bizarre court action he is embarked on.
The bloke is one of the highest paid sportsmen in the world, with a £65million deal just with Nike, to say nothing of other very lucrative sponsorships and massive prize and appearance money every season. You're probably talking at least £10million a season, likely a lot more.
He's going for £6m from his former management companies, they are counter-claiming for £1.6m. So the settlement could be literally anywhere along that line. Whatever he gets anyway (or loses) there will then be massive legal bills, surely at least £500,000 and maybe more like £1m.
Then there is the mucking around with his career, he has now pulled out of two big tournaments to fight the case so it is badly interfering with his career, he would have got in maybe another few hundred thousand from those.
The bottom line is that the net gain may not be all that big in relative terms, and there is a risk it could go pear-shaped plus all the grief and hassle, bad PR and potentially damaging revelations - and he doesn't need the money.
No one likes to be done over, but think this was one to walk away from.
