Worth a punt on loan?

He gets regular game time and his fitness back and we get an exceptionally talented player.....

Win/win?

For all of his talent he is twice as much of a handfull off the pitch. It will also take him 2 months to get back to match fitness again and his wages will be stupid.

Apart from that, not a bad shout.

That's really not a bad shout at all, he would lift the place.

The weird thing about Redknapp's outburst is that Taarabt is probably fitter then he has been for a couple of years. He certainly was a couple of stone overweight, but they don't tolerate that in Italy where he was last year and has lost some.

Bizarrely with all Redknapp's supposed man management skills he has never cracked Taarabt either at Spurs, where he let him go to QPR, or at Rangers. Neil Warnock got the best out of Taarabt by a country mile.

There is no doubt the player is difficult and needs to be made to feel special. Redknapp's history and frustration with him goes way back, at Spurs at 19/20 he said he "thinks he should be playing for Real Madrid". But when he is made to feel the main man, he can do this:

No way, didn't Redknapp say he is three stone overweight? The last thing we need at the moment is someone not prepared to pull their weight.

The pictures in the Daily Mail today confirm that he clearly isn't three stone overweight. Redknapp's comment was a throwaway line of the type he is famous for that has been jumped on...and also borne of years of frustration with the player, who has been guilty of it in the past.

60 grand a week, lazy and overweight. The archetypal example of the worst about the modern footballer - all the talent in the world but no desire or discipline whatsoever.

He is the anti-Calde.

Perhaps a few months under the wing of St.Inigo, might lead to his redemption...

He isnt over weight.

If played in the right why he is a brilliant player, Warnock managed him correctly by telling him not to come back past the half way line.

Redknapped hated him and Spurs and off loaded him, once you are on his shit list you wont come off it, even if it benefits the team.

He's a very good player but a luxury one. Wages aside, I'm not sure he is the sort of player you want playing in relegation matches in either the Premiership or Championship.

Because, of course, Harry ALWAYS tells the truth.
