I know there is every kind of expert on this forum...

I just went up in the loft and noticed a green glowing 'light' that wasnt there before. On closer inspection (well not too close) its some sort of insect nest. What the hell kind of insect is it?

Its quite bright - a similar luminosity you get with one of those wrist band thingys.

Can any bug experts shed any light?

The house next door had one of those and reported it to the Council - The next day a black lorry turned up and twenty men in black suits went in and took the family away to check them over.

Two days later the house was knocked down because it had subsidence so the family never came back - we never found out what the green hive was because of that.

Is it a family who have just bought the new third kit?

Not sure which one but the spores of a type of damp glow.
The damp creates a growth that grows and because it is in a dark area one of its growing attributes is its ability to glow or somesh*t like that.
Edit. Its either wet or dry rot worth checking it looks a bit like a nest.

No I'm familiar with those - had it before in the previous house. Pretty sure its some sort of insect nest.

I'll investigate a bit closer tomorrow if I'm feeling brave, and if it doesn't eat me in the night.
