YELLOW WARNING OF HEAVY SHOWERS FOR SOUTHERN ENGLAND

An unstable southwesterly flow covers southern England. Outbreaks of heavy, thundery rain developing over the English Channel are expected to affect southern England overnight. The thundery downpours will clear eastwards becoming restricted to areas east of the Isle of Wight by 01:00 and then clearing other parts by 04:00. Although, as is usually the case with showers, not all parts will see the heavy rainfall where it does occur 25 mm of rain could fall in less than an hour locally with 30-40 mm falling in 3 hours or less in places.
