If you don't have any luck, I've been to both these places (if you get into Brighton) who have some well serviced 2nd hand bikes available. Both places are genuine bike enthusiasts.

Yeah, I saw that one. I've been in there a few times and they do take a lot of pride in the bikes they put together. Got to say though, I think it would look better with black bar tape to go with the crank, saddle and hoods.

Got myself an excellent s/h Giant hybrid at g-whizz in Hove for £220 - can highly recommend them. Might be worth looking on Gumtree too.

I may know someone who has one that is barely used and well within that budget, even a rack that fits on the back of a car/van for 3 bikes.

I'll try and get some pics and will PM you tomorrow.

Cheap bikes tend to fall to bits and quite quickly the components just wear out or break.

There is a firm called Discount Bikes as well. Never tried them. I have always buy second hand as I can't find a new bike I like in the UK.

It looks a bit shitty to me. I think a half decent bike would cost about £300 minimum new. So a good second-hand one for £150 isn't a bad deal, but it will probably end costing £300 in a couple of years with repairs etc. Repairs of my second-hand bike gonna cost me £150 or so next year. If I knew of any decent bikes to buy new, I think I might do that. Don't know of any now.

A half decent bike is much less trouble as the cheap bikes really do fall to bits.
