Somebody needs to tell our electorate. There's too many people taking the UK economic recovery for granted, with the Lib Dems and Tories getting a shoeing from UKIP and the Red Ed dreamers. This coalition have performed a miracle.

Uk GDP rose by 0.9% in the last quarter and by 0.6% in the previous quarter. While Eurozone is slipping back into crisis. Possibly dragging us with it.

In what respect? I assume you are a saver and looking for rates to go up?

Economic union via the Euro currency has been a disaster for the powerhouse economies of Europe that joined. If Germany could liberate itself from the Euro and revert to its own currency it would be flying.

If the Euro implodes a huge amount of political careers are finished, as is the EU to all intents and purposes so won't hold my breath on it going any time soon.
I think there comes a point where you have to accept that the Euro project has failed and economic union simply cannot work without full political union which simply will not ever happen.
Sure, it suits the basket case economies who couldn't develop a monetary policy and stick to it if their lives depended on it. But for the decent economies it is a millstone that will continually drag them down in terms of competitiveness and the ability to built budget surplus. Madness.

Staying low, saving Base+ mortgage payers a fortune
Crazy isn't it? Germany has a fantastic balance to its GDP with a healthy mix across Services, high quality Manufacturing, Tech and finance. Yet its inability to establish its own Monetary policy will slowly kill the prosperity.
