Brighton & Hove Albion have selected Sussex-based charities Autism Sussex and Off the Fence as the club’s two charity partners for the 2014/15 season – alongside Albion in the Community. Chief executive Paul Barber said, “These are two very worthy local charities, doing fantastic work in the Sussex community and we are delighted to welcome both Autism Sussex and Off the Fence as our charity partners for the 2014/15 season.“Throughout the season, we will be seeking to engage fans in ways that they can help both organisations – along with our own charitable arm Albion in the Community and other existing charity partners.”
Autism Sussex aims to enable people with an autistic spectrum condition to receive the help and specialist support services they and their families need.
They provide personalised support services which produce measurable, positive outcomes for those who use them and better long-term value for money to those who fund them.
Working across Sussex, they currently provide children and young people’s short breaks including; after-school clubs, Saturday clubs, school holidays and community based activities.
The focus of these sessions is to inspire and motivate children and young people to engage in a wide variety of activities, giving the same access as their mainstream peers to activities but with specialised support.
Working alongside a variety of partners, the service aims to promote young peoples socialisation, developing their confidence and encouraging independence through development of their skills.

Autism Sussex CEO Chris Board said, “We are delighted to have been chosen by Brighton & Hove Albion as one of their charities for this coming season. Working together will provide the opportunity to enable children and young people with autism to experience activities that would not usually be available.“We also hope that this partnership will provide a platform to raise awareness of autism spectrum conditions and the impact this has on the children and their families, and promote the services and support which is available to families in the local area.”

Off the Fence was established more than 17 years ago by local people with an army of volunteers from around the area, with a vision to end poverty in all forms around the city of Brighton & Hove.
Working in some of the most deprived areas, with some of the city’s most vulnerable individuals, the charity runs Antifreeze: one of the busiest homeless day centres in the city.
Antifreeze gives life-saving support to homeless people and provides night outreach to those sleeping rough, ensuring that lives are not lost on the streets.
Off The Fence also support local schools by offering a variety of programmes led by the Schools & Youth team, and run Gateway, a day centre for women experiencing crisis or recovering from emotional difficulties.
